Broken Alpha Page 6
I was snoozing in bed when Alec mind linked me, she was going out for the day with her two friends and was at the boat docks. He watched her board a ferry for Agistri and I had him get the speed boat ready.
It didn’t take us long to catch up to them. We also spotted two of Eros’ men, wolves, following closely. Alec and I split up to watch from different places, fortunately, we had taken Evvie tea to mask our scents so Eros’ wolves wouldn’t pickup our scents.
I sat at the outdoor beach bar and watched them from a distance. She looked so hot in that little turquoise bikini and it bothered me that others could see her too. This was crazy, I just needed to get close enough, to look into her eyes and then I would know for sure.
“What do you need to know for sure? That’s our mate! I know it.” Dom snapped at me. He was sure, but I still wanted to look into her eyes.
Alec sat under a shade tree on the other side reading a book and trying to look like he belonged there. “What are you reading?” I asked through the mind link.
“The only book I could find in the lost and found at the port information desk.” He said.
“Yes, but you haven’t looked up for nearly an hour, it must be good.” I linked back.
“It’s classical English literature.” He replied.
“Good grief, you aren’t reading Pride and Prejudice, are you?” I laughed.
“No.” he laughed back. “It’s Sense and Sensibility.”
A few moments later, I was ready to order another beer, but they started getting up, ready to leave.
“They’ll be heading your way to get some food,” Alec linked me, and I moved.
“Have you seen the goons?” I asked.
“They’re back in the woods, watching as well.” He said.
I walked around the village and stopped at a tavern to use the restroom. When I came out, I had lost visual of them. “Where are they?” I asked Alec through the link.
“They’re on the back patio at Raina’s but she went downstairs alone. I don’t see her, and the goons moved fast.” He said.
If she stepped away from her friends, they could try and take her. Where the hell did she go? I heard a cat meowing loudly and I suddenly stood still inhaling her scent. She crashed right into me and my first instinct was to hold her to my chest.
Dom was howling in my head. What the hell was wrong with him, she can’t be our mate.
“Then why are you so obsessed with her?” Dom snickered at me.
“Excuse me.” She said, her voice was music to my ears. She looked right up at me with those beautiful blue eyes and I knew. FUCK!
I fought the urge to kiss her and felt myself getting annoyed at my own weakness. Then I caught a glimpse of the two goons following her that stood watching us. I stepped away from her and quickly made my way to them. They ran behind the building, into a back alleyway.
A moment later, I had them both pinned to the ground with my canines and claws extended. One of them pulled a silver blade out and tried to stab me. I grabbed his arm and forced him to drive the blade in his own neck.
“Who sent you?” I asked the other one still breathing.
“Fuck you!” He growled.
“I’m afraid you’re not my type.” I snarled back.
“But she is, isn’t she? You can’t watch her all the time!” He smiled before I snapped his neck.
“Alec, I’ve neutralized the goons. You can go and get something to eat before we head back.” I linked my Gamma.
“You want anything?” He asked.
“I’m good, going to grab souvlaki at the stand on the corner and then go for a quick run.” I replied.
I sat at the north end of the docks eating my chicken souvlaki pita. I couldn’t stop thinking about her and it worried me. I never wanted a mate for this exact reason. Eros must have already figured out my connection to her and wanted her. Why did he want her? Eros and I usually stayed in our own separate lanes.
“She’s an adorable little creature.” Dom practically purred at me.
“What the fuck, are you a cat all of the sudden?” I’ve never heard him sound so soft and I’m sure that was a purr.
My scent had been masked and my eyes were behind dark sunglasses, she might not be aware that she’s my mate. I walked towards the forest and stepped out of my clothes before I shifted. I let Dom run off some steam and he really wanted to find his mate and claim her. “I’m picking up her scent.” He told me.
“We can’t approach her; she’ll be with her friends. Let’s see if we can find their things and get an I.D. on her.” I told him.
Minutes later, I found her dress and backpack. I shifted back at a bush and quickly opened her bag up. Money, magazine, towel, sunglasses, cell phone, vanilla lip balm and a lighter. Why did she have a lighter? She doesn’t smoke. No identification, DAMN!
I shifted back and Dom started sniffing her clothes and rolled around on them. “ENOUGH!” I yelled at him. He then picked up a piece of her swimsuit in his mouth and we ran back to our clothes.
When I shifted, I noticed that Dom had grabbed her bikini bottom. I stared at it for a moment and then lifted it to my nose. Big mistake! Her scent sent a burning desire for her shooting through my body.
I’m in big fucking trouble!
Chapter 11 – Plan
I felt anxious all day and couldn’t focus on classes, I was thinking about everything Niko told me. Athens was full of beautiful young women; Eros could have his pick! Why me?
No one in Greece really knew who I was, except for Kosta, and even he didn’t know much about me. Maybe I should ask Kosta to help me with Angela? I considered this for a while but then decided against it because he will report back to my father and I’d be on the next flight out of here. No way in hell I wanted to be sent to school near home, I was finally free to do what I wanted, when I wanted.
I wasn’t going to be able to do this by myself and I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about Niko or who he worked for. It was time to tell Rocky and Leo, they were my only wolf friends and might have some ideas. I texted both of them and asked them to meet at Richy’s Temple of Sweets after class.
An hour later, I was standing in front of the ice cream shop. I looked into the window and Rocky wasn’t there yet. “Raven.” I heard Leo call as he walked down the sidewalk towards me.
“Hey Leo.” I waved at him.
“Is Rocky here yet?”
“No, I was just waiting.”
“Her last class should have been over five minutes ago, I’m sure she’s on her way. Let’s go inside and check out Richy’s specials for today.” He said and we stepped inside.
“Hello, Hello!” We were greeted by the owner Richard, who was behind the counter in his apron.
“Hi Richard, what are the specials for today?” I asked.
“We have the Kaimaki, which is a chewy Greek ice cream with a sour cherry syrup and topped with chopped pistachio. We also have a new creamy and smooth banana ice cream topped with chocolate shavings.” He said.
“I’ll try the banana.” Rocky said from behind us, she had just entered the shop.
“The Kaimaki sounds good.” I said.
“Make that two Kaimaki’s.” Leo added.
I paid for all of our ice creams and we sat in the back corner booth that we regularly occupied at Richy’s Temple of Sweets.
“Raven, is everything okay?” Rocky asked me digging into her ice cream.
What a loaded question. Where do I even start? I took a deep breath and just started telling them.
“Remember when we went to the club and the beast was there? Well, I recently discovered that the man dancing with me was indeed Alpha Eros, the mafia underboss.”
“Oh Goddess! I’m so glad we didn’t stick around.” Rocky said.
“I wish it was that easy. I think my father has someone watching me, maybe. That Niko guy I met at Delphi is Kosta’s nephew and he told me that Eros was after me. He also told me that Angela was accidentally abducted by his m
en instead of me.”
“What?” Leo said with a shocked look on his face.
“They were sent to pick me up, I was with her that night. Angela and I had just left the library and I stopped to get dinner at Cristopalous Taverna, she walked back alone. We both have long dark hair and we’re about the same size.” I said.
“Except she’s human! How the hell did they miss that?” Leo said.
“So many wolves mask their scent around here, maybe they thought she had taken the same herb you take.” I added.
“If Angela doesn’t turn up, the inspector will be out any day now sniffing around. You’ll be the first person they interview.” Rocky told me.
“I doubt she will leave alive. If she finds out that she is being held captive by wolves, they will have to kill her.” Leo said.
“I can’t let her die because of me!”
“Eros is a very dangerous wolf, no one really knows who the head of the mafia is. Some people think it’s him, that he’s more than just the underboss.” Leo added.
“Could the Beast of Greece actually be the mafia boss? I mean, he was at the club. Eros said the beast was watching me, maybe he wants me?”
“I wonder why he would go to such great lengths for you. You’re Alpha born that would start a war among packs.” Rocky said.
“Raven, which pack are you from?” Leo asked.
I paused for a moment and decided that I trusted them. “I’m from Crescent Moon Pack.”
“THE Crescent Moon Pack? As in the largest powerhouse pack in the world?” Rocky asked.
“You’re Alpha LaRue’s daughter?” Leo asked.
“Yes, I am.”
“Our Alpha Georgios sits on the shifter’s council with your father.” Leo said.
“I guess if anything happens to me, you’ll know how to contact my family.” I told them.
“Nothing is going to happen to you Raven. But, why didn’t you tell us sooner?” Rocky asked.
“I didn’t really think it was important and Kosta had warned me to lay low. Maybe Eros has figured out who I am and now he wants me to hurt my father.” I said.
“Shouldn’t we let him know, he’s got allies around the globe and we could probably get Angela back in no time.” Leo suggested.
“You don’t know my dad. I’m his only daughter of six children, he will bring me straight home.”
“Okay, so what’s the plan?” Rocky asked.
“I don’t know. I thought about finding Eros and trading Angela for me.”
“Are you crazy?” Leo asked.
“I’m an Alpha, I’ve been training since I was a pup, and I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve.”
“Tricks?” Leo asked.
“I’m elemental.” I said.
“SHUT UP!” Rocky’s eyes were wide open in shock.
“Elementals still exist?” Leo asked confused.
He had a water cup sitting in front of him and I willed the water to splash him in the face. Rocky burst out laughing, and Leo looked down at the water dripping off his face to his shirt in shock.
“Elementals are descendants of the Moon Goddess herself Leo, of course they still exist, even if they are few and far between.” Rocky told him.
“So, water is your element?” He questioned.
“Yes, and Fire.” I said.
“I’ve never heard of a wolf that could control two elements.” Rocky said.
“There was a prophecy before I was born, that a wolf would eventually control all four elements and help win a great shifter war.” I told them.
“So, you’re thinking about trading yourself for Angela and then burning Eros?” Leo asked.
“Something like that, I don’t know. I’d like to find where they might be keeping her first and then consider an escape plan.”
“I’m in!” Leo said.
“Where do we start?” Rocky asked.
“We start at the Plaka district.”
It's been three days now, the police inspector interviewed me yesterday. We’ve been out every evening trying to find buildings associated with Eros where Angela might be kept. Rocky and I have been walking through the Plaka district and the Monastiraki district, with Leo following from a distance trying to pick up a tail that might be following us.
We were currently in the Plaka and had found a waitress at a local cafe who was a wolf. Rocky had inquired where we might be able to purchase some Evvie, which could be found on the black market to help wolves mask their scent. This was our cover up story for snooping around.
The waitress had informed us that it’s very difficult to find but we should try looking at Howling Dogs night club. We went to the Howling Dogs, but the doors were locked.
“It doesn’t open until later.” Rocky said.
“Actually, they’re closed until tomorrow, they’ve been setting up for the Dionysus festival.” Said a familiar voice from behind us.
“Niko, what are you doing here?” I asked.
“I’m wondering what you’re doing here. And why your friend is following you way back there?” He asked.
“That’s none of your business.” I replied.
“Third night in a row that you’ve been out wandering around. Are you looking for something or someone?” He raised a questioning eyebrow at me.
“Raven wants to mask her scent; we’re looking to buy herbs.” Rocky gave him our cover up line.
“From the Greek mafia? Can’t you just send her to your supplier? You’re masking your scent right now aren’t you, Beta?” He grinned at Rocky who looked like she was debating whether or not she wanted to punch him.
“Look Raven, you’re making it difficult for us to focus on Angela when we’re worried about your carelessness.” He said.
“Excuse me? My carelessness? How long does it take to find and save one single human? I can’t just sit around and do nothing.” I snapped back.
“We expect to have her in the next few days, there’s a lot of movement happening with the festival coming.” He told us.
“Wonderful, then we will go back to the dorm right now, come on Rocky.” I lied and just had another idea.
We walked back towards Leo and I noticed most places were already decorating and setting up for the three day festival. There’s no way Eros would miss the festival, we could return in costumes tomorrow, with so many people it would be hard for anyone to really pick up my scent.
We slipped into a taxi and I waved goodbye to Niko. “We need to get some costumes for tomorrow.” I told them.
“There’s a plaza a few blocks ahead that will have some options.” Leo said and instructed the driver in Greek.
“I think she’s at the Howling Dogs. None of the other places were locked up and Niko must have been watching the place too. He seemed a little nervous that we had suddenly appeared there.”
“I think you’re right. That is a big building and I’m sure it has an underground level as well.” Rocky said.
We reached the plaza and entered a store that was selling elaborate costumes. “Most people will be dressed as the ancient society dressed, in linen costumes, but we will need something to fully disguise us.” Rocky said.
“How about this?” Leo laughed and held up a satyr costume.
“It’s perfect for you!” I laughed.
Rocky and I also searched for costumes that would hide our head and face. Rocky found a Medusa costume with a big snake head for herself and a wood nymph costume for me that covers the entire body and head with tree bark and vines. My costume also had a masquerade mask that matched the rest of the costume to hide my face.
We have our costumes and a mission for tomorrow.
Chapter 12 – Festival
I wiggled into my wood nymph costume, it was a layered dress with brown and green chiffon. It had leaves, bark, vines and twigs elaborately sewn into it. The headdress was beautiful and would hide my hair perfectly. It had vines and twigs intertwined in it and had a train that draped down my back.
I rubbed
brown and glittery green body paint on the exposed parts of my arms and legs, before I did the same to my neck and face. Once it was dry, I slipped the beautifully embellished masquerade mask over my eyes. The costume was sexy and fun, had I been wearing it for any other occasion I would have enjoyed it.
I grabbed my waterproof lighter and slipped it into my bra. My cellphone, money, keys and another lighter went into a small brown pouch purse. I hung the purse over my neck and shoulder, and it blended well with my costume.
I knocked on Rocky’s door and she opened it, the Medusa costume on her was fantastic. Leo was sitting in his satyr costume on her bed while she painted his face and nose with makeup.
“What the hell is that?” I burst out laughing pointing at Leo’s satyr costume.
He looked down to where I was pointing and wiggled around a cloth penis that was sewn into his costume while laughing. “Satyr’s were often depicted with an erect penis because they were horny little rascals. They spent their days chasing around nymphs and women, trying to seduce them. It was all about wine, sex and partying; that’s why they were always around Dionysus.” He told me.
“We’re saving these costumes for some real fun someday.” Rocky laughed.
We made our way to the lobby and Karla was standing there watching everyone leaving in costumes.
“Off to the festival I see, be sure to stay safe and together.” She waved to us and called out, “don’t drink too much.”
We took a taxi, but the streets were a disaster because some of the main roads were blocked. The parade route went from Monastiraki square, through the Plaka and down to Kolonaki. We got as close as possible, then got out to walk the remaining blocks.
I could hear the traditional Greek klarino or karamuza horns playing and the drums pounding as we neared the festivities. People were linked in a line dance revolving in a circle in the streets, onlookers were clapping as they danced. We moved passed them and into the Plaka towards the Howling Dogs night club. The parade was moving slowly and a float that instantly caught my eye had a big penis mounted on top. I laughed when I noticed someone on the float was tossing rubber penis's out into the crowd.
